Pharoah Sanders and Floating Points Join Forces for New Album

Spiritual jazz saxophone legend Pharoah Sanders has joined forces with Floating Points for a new album called Promises. Recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, the nine-part work is the first new music from the 80-year-old jazz luminary in more than a decade. It’s out March 26 via Luaka Bop. Check out the album artwork by contemporary visual artist Julie Mehretu below, along with a trailer for the record featuring Sanders and Floating Points, aka Sam Shepherd.

Last year, Parisian label Transversales Disques reissued some live material from Sanders as Live in Paris (1975). Floating Points’ most recent album was 2019’s Crush. Shepherd later remixed Caribou’s “Sister” and “Never Come Back.”
